Today my guest is N.J. Nielsen. I’m not a fan of Christmas carols (shh… don’t tell my mother) but N.J. shares one that just might change my mind 🙂
Don’t forget to enter the giveaways.
I love Christmas and always look forward to it. What’s your favourite holiday of the year and what makes it so special?
I also love Christmas, have since I was a kid. Not that we got a lot of presents as kids it was more for the big family/friends dinner that we had each year… I also love New Years because for me it’s like a fresh start.
Do you and your family/friends have any special holiday traditions?
On family birthdays I cook their favourite meals for breakfast and dinner.
What’s the worst present you’ve ever received?
One year when we were married my Ex husband gave me a roll away jack for my car (only because he wanted a new jack) so what did I do. I kept it in its box and wouldn’t let him have it. I ended up giving it to someone else.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
That’s easy… I love getting stationary of any kind. It doesn’t have to be expensive. I love loose leaf paper and empty note books.
What’s your biggest gift giving disaster?
I once gave shellfish to my niece. I totally forgot that she was deathly allergic to it. It was an accident I swear. She still talks to me, so all is good.
What’s your biggest gift giving success?
Giving my daughter clothes of any kind… especially shoes.
If you could be granted one special gift for the world for the holiday season, what would it be?
I know most people would say world peace… but me it would be no spiders. Those little suckers scar me silly.
Christmas carols. Yes or no?
Yes… I even sing along.
Do you watch Christmas movies? If so, what’s your favourite all time holiday movie?
I do… I have a soft spot for the Santa Clause movies with Tim Allen as Santa
I love reading stories set in the holiday season and I especially like seeing stories set all over the world. I love seeing how others celebrate and I love reading about guys getting their special holiday happy ever afters. Do you read holiday romances? If so, do you have a favourite you’d like to recommend to your readers?
RJ Scott’s—The Christmas Throwaway… I even read it when it’s not Christmas.
What inspired your current holiday story? (if you have one)
Sadly this year I don’t have one releasing… But I have started outlining one for next year Lancaster’s Way: A Stuart Family Christmas… Because I wanted my readers to find out more about Riley’s Australian family.
Tell us a little about the main characters in your holiday story.
I haven’t quite worked that out yet but it will be based around one of Riley’s brothers.
Tell us a little about the favourite book you released this year?
Sadly I’ve only had two releases this year and I love them both for different reasons. Wardens of the Guild 1: The Real You (because it was rattling around inside my head for ages—plus first time writing M/M/M/M)… The Connelly Chronicles 2: Beautiful Goodbyes (Because frankly, I just love that family)
Share a favourite holiday photo.
I don’t have any pictures of my family… I lost many during the floods back in 2011… But I will just add My Christmas Tree from last year. Hopefully I will be moved so I can set it up again this year.
I love sharing YouTube clips of holiday songs. If you have a favourite you want me to include, put the URL here.
Yes this song I usually blog every year.
The end of the year is often a time for making New Year’s Resolutions. Do you have any you’d be willing to share? After all, they do say you’re more likely to achieve a goal if you share it 🙂
To start writing again. After the shocker of a year I’ve had I need the calm that writing brings. I know I will definitely.
What does 2017 hold for you on the writing front? What can your readers expect to see from you?
In 2017 I am doing the Penny Brandon Writing Challenge where I need to write 2 (100K) Novels and 20 (40K) Novellas—OR—1 million words, (I had to put it on hold this year). I have worked out a daily word count so that I don’t fall behind… So my readers can expect the next books in ever single series that I have on the go and maybe a couple of newbies thrown in.
There are many people who aren’t as fortunate as me and this time of year is always a time where I reflect on how lucky I am. It’s a time for giving back and I do so by supporting my favourite charity (Twenty10 who provide support for LGBT youth) financially and with their Christmas Hamper drive. Is there a favourite charity or not-for-profit organization you’d like to call out and raise the awareness of?
Every year I buy presents for the Kmart Wishing Tree

The Connelly Chronicles 2: Beautiful Goodbyes
As someone wise once said—Life is like an ice cream cone. When you think you have it licked, it drips all over you.
When life seems to be running smoothly there has to be a bump—or three—in the road. Ray and Viv realize while they grow closer, their family is falling apart around them, and they can’t seem to do anything to stop the heartache from happening. The only thing they can do is pick up the pieces.
Ray would love nothing better than to shake the hell out of the adults in the family and tell them all to wake up. The only problem is that Ray has his own demons to face—between being swept away by flood waters to his daughter’s unravelling relationship, custody battles and launching a new business to help abandoned teenagers, Ray loses himself for a while.
Viv tries desperately to hold the family together. He’s so used to Ray being the strong one that at first he’s clueless how to fix what’s going wrong in their lives. Viv enlists the help of the family to get everyone back on track. Sometimes wisdom comes from where you least expect it, but mostly it comes from the ones who know and love you best.
With so much going on in their family, will Viv and Ray have opportunities to keep their love alive? Or will their world come crashing down around them?

About the author
NJ needs to write like she needs to breathe. It’s an addiction she never intends to find a cure for. When you don’t find NJ arguing with Vlad, her muse, or writing about the wonderful men in her stories, you’ll find her reading work by other authors she greatly admires. NJ lives in the SE of Qld, Australia with her family who all encourage her writing career (even if she does occasionally call them by her character’s names), and her variety of pets. NJ thinks anyone who takes the time to read her stuff is totally awesome, and wants to thank you all.
