Every year it gives me great pleasure to take part in RJ Scott’s Autism Blog Hop. The hop is all about sharing factual information related to autism to increase understanding and raise awareness.
Autism Fact:
Dogs have been shown to improve autistic childrenโs quality of life, independence, and safety. The presence of a trained dog can reduce aggressive behavior, calm the child, and serve as a link to the childโs community.
This year the theme is FOOD. Now that’s something very close to my heart (and belly!). For those who know me, you’ll know that I’m a huge foodie. I dine out (when not quarantined) and also love to cook and entertain at home.
And because of this, food features hugely in most of my books. My More Than series features a catering company called Poppy’s Pantry and there are mentions of the dishes being prepared. Tim, one of the main characters in More Than A Friend is a chef so cooking is obvious, but even my characters who don’t work as professional chefs usually prepare some sort of meal during the course of a novel. I’ve even written a Christmas novella that is centred around preparing a Christmas pudding.
How do you feel about food in books? Does the mention of food make you hungry and bring on cravings? I’m starting a recipe collection soon, sharing all the recipes for the dishes that feature in my stories. Perhaps the cooks among you will give them a try?
