GUEST POST:
I’m new to this and I tend to scurry away from any light shined one me so bear with me. It’s difficult for me to tell you all about me. First, I don’t think my life is all that interesting and I always want it to be about the books. I write fantasy and paranormal and for that I blame my penchant for video games. I’ve tried creating normal characters, but someone always decides they need magic or glowing daggers which is how my series started.
I built an entire world in D’Vaire where at the flick of a wrist a sorcerer can cast a spell, or a man can shift into a beast. They live alongside humans but so far, they have little to do with them. The humans don’t want them around which forced the Council of Sorcery and Shifters into treaty negotiations. No Council member can step foot into a human building without permission and most of them don’t want to anyway.
It’s impossible to say how many books the D’Vaire series will wind up with. Right now, the list is long, and I have no plans to venture outside their world anytime soon. I’ve always thought that for me to write well I need to choose stories that entertain me. And I can assure you I adore every one of these guys. I fall in love while I craft their stories and with some luck somewhere out there is someone who will do the same.
This book is more than a simple re-release of Book 1. It’s been given a complete overhaul and I am happy to present Dra’Kaedan and Brogan’s story to you as I believe it was meant to be. A crazy warlock turned familiar and a dragon shifter who is a bit wary of magic but drawn to his fated mate nonetheless. Originally it was titled Grand Redemption but when I began this project I knew I needed a new cover. The other seven books have a specific feel to them that the first one lacked, so it wasn’t a question about a new look. With that hurdle jumped, I thought about the title and realized it didn’t truly fit the story. So, after very little thought I came up with Dra’Kaedan’s Coven which I truly feel it should have been from the start.
I gleefully tore this book apart and reworked the story, so it suited this special couple who are so integral to the series. Dra’Kaedan also happens to be one of my favorite guys in the D’Vaire world. He’s a delight to write for and I can’t help but find a way to work him into all the D’Vaire books! I hope you enjoy this new version of the story and that you want to stay in the world of D’Vaire for a long time.
EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:
Brogan was stunned by Ayden’s invitation to move in together, but he recovered quickly. After all, it was exactly what he wanted. Ayden was the center of his world and the closer they grew the better. Unfortunately, they’d walked into his bedroom and quickly discovered that if they wanted to get this done efficiently, it was going to take more than two people.
“This room really is hideous,” Ayden muttered as he surveyed the space. He pulled open the door of the closet and sighed. “For Fate’s sake, how much shit do you have shoved in this closet?”
“I’ve just been tossing crap in there in between trips.”
Ayden turned and when their eyes met, the familiar’s were full of exasperation. “This is going to take forever.”
“No, it’s not,” Aleksander said as he appeared in the doorway with the other D’Vaires minus the witch who was probably parked in her spot on the sofa.
“Oh, thank goodness, the cavalry’s here,” Ayden replied. “We’re going to need to stage an intervention. I think Brogan’s a hoarder.”
“Wow, that closet is almost stacked to the ceiling,” Blodwen remarked as the necromancer walked over and stood next to Ayden.
“Brogan, have you thrown away anything in your life?” Noirin asked.
Brogan twisted his lips in annoyance. “I’ve been gone most of the last few years. I’d come home and toss my crap in there before heading out again.”
“If there’s any dead animals in here, I’m gone,” Blodwen said as she reached out to gingerly poke a small box.
“We’ll make one of these dragons eat it,” Ayden promised.
“Here’s the thing, Squirt. Dragons aren’t really big on eating vermin,” Aleksander commented. “Are we saving all this shit?”
Ayden whipped around to face Brogan. “Are we? I mean, you can’t want all of this, right?”
“No, not all of it. I need to go through it,” Brogan responded.
“Take a seat on the bed, Brogan,” Noirin directed. “I’ll grab some garbage bags. We’ll hand the stuff to you, and you can ditch or donate whatever you don’t want to keep.”
Brogan did what he was told without an argument because Noirin wasn’t a woman easily ignored, and he appreciated all their help. “Sure, let’s get started.”
Aleksander reached over the heads of the two magickind in front of the closet, grabbed a box and passed it to Brogan. After Brogan opened it, Aleksander leaned down so they were at eye level. “It’s also your responsibility to snack on any creepy crawlies we find.”
“Fuck off,” Brogan retorted with a glare at his best friend.
“We know the clothes are being moved, right? Ayden, let’s start emptying this dresser,” Blodwen suggested. As the pair moved to the tall highboy, Brogan cringed a little on the inside.
When Ayden exploded, Brogan wasn’t surprised. “I can’t even—” he yelled then toppled back onto his ass. He’d tried to open a drawer that was so stuffed it wouldn’t budge an inch.
“Oh dear,” Blodwen muttered as she helped Ayden up. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Ayden snarled as he scowled at Brogan. “I’m considering accidentally setting this room on fire.”
“It’s not an accident if you announce it before you do it,” Brogan bravely pointed out.
Ayden’s eyes narrowed in irritation. “Perhaps I can distract you, and then you’ll believe it was an accident.”
“It’s possible,” Brogan responded as he waggled his brows. “There’s quite a few things you could do that would blow…my mind.”
The familiar smirked. “Maybe later.”
