I read the blurb of this book and I was sold! It sounds fabulous and I can’t wait to read it. BL has provided me with an excerpt to share with you all. Enjoy!

“What the fuck is up with that doctor?” I mumbled to myself, before continuing to walk toward Sean’s place. I was hoping there was still some of my stash left there, and that he hadn’t found it. That day was a blur, but I thought I had more drugs and some money left.
My mind wandered as I walked the short distance from the park. Why would that doctor give me money, and what the fuck did he think he was doing going through my bag. He had no right to take my drugs. I didn’t give a shit that he’d saved my life, he could have just left me to it. Not like anyone else would really care.
I neared a fast-food restaurant, and started to walk past, but then, remembering the money in my pocket, decided I needed to get something to eat. I crossed the street and pushed the door open. It wasn’t busy at all, which I appreciated. I went to the counter and looked up at the menu, not that anything had really changed at the golden arches. I ordered a burger combo and an extra-large soda, stuffed a few fries in my mouth on the way to a table, then immediately started devouring my meal. I wasn’t sure when I’d eaten last, I knew I hadn’t eaten after I’d worked all day on the fishing boat. After I’d been paid, my thoughts were consumed with getting a fix; food was not a concern.
I thought about how I’d gone to the park the day before, how I’d shot up, and eventually overdosed. How was that possible? I didn’t use any more than I usually did. I was normally pretty careful about how much I used. I wanted to make it last. And I didn’t want to end up in the hospital. If I’d wanted to overdose, I’d do the job right, there would be no coming back from it. And I wouldn’t end up in a hospital, being pumped full of Narcan to save me.
I finished my burger and fries while I thought about everything that had happened the past twenty-four hours, and took a long drink of my soda. Once again, I wondered why that doctor had seemed so concerned about me, and why would he give me money? I wadded up the wrappers and carried them over to the trash can as I made my way to the door.
The cold seeped through my clothes on the short walk to Sean’s place, and as I was walking in, he was once again rushing out.
“Hey, man, I’m on my way to work, there’s pizza in the fridge if you’re hungry.”
“Thanks, Sean, I just ate. I have some money for you.”
“Nah, you’re good, what you gave me last time was plenty.” He stopped for a second and looked down at his feet. “Just be careful, okay?”
“Uh, yeah, sure, Sean.” I rolled my eyes at him.
“I mean it, I have a bad feeling that something’s gonna happen, and it won’t be good.”
“Like a premonition? You’re kidding me, right?”
“I don’t know what it is, but just be careful.”

Brennan Clayton lived a life of privilege and comfort, until experimenting with drugs in college led to him quitting school to live the life of an addict. His days are spent doing odd jobs for cash to pay for his habit. One night, he overdoses and nearly dies.
Doctor Lucas Martel works nightshift in the emergency room at Eureka Hospital. He’s reclusive and brilliant at his job, and he’s all too aware that not everything in Eureka is as it seems. He’s also a vampire, one who chooses to blend in with humans rather than feed on them.
Something strange is happening to the homeless and addicts on the streets of Eureka; many have gone missing or ended up dead, and others have overdosed on drugs so strong, no human cure can counteract them. Not normally concerned with human tragedies, the vampires can’t stand back and let this play out, or they risk exposing their world to the humans.
Brennan must face his demons, and Lucas will discover many things about himself, and what he believes to be true: a seedy underground of rogue vampires and drugs that must be stopped, at any cost.

About BL Maxwell
BL Maxwell grew up in a small town listening to her grandfather spin tales about his childhood. Later she became an avid reader and after a certain vampire series she became obsessed with fanfiction. She soon discovered Slash fanfiction and later discovered the MM genre and was hooked.
Many years later, she decided to take the plunge and write down some of the stories that seem to run through her head late at night when she’s trying to sleep.
