His Duke’s Gift
by Lynn Lorenz
Blurb
It’s the Yule season and everyone is excited. Gifts will be given by Duke Logan, but also by Drake and the boys, Tomas and Joss.
Finding the perfect gift proves hard, but when a stranger arrives at the keep, and Logan locks Drake out of his bedroom, Drake’s confusion and anger threatens to ruin the season.
Interview – Holiday Spirit
I love Christmas and always look forward to it. What’s your favourite holiday of the year and what makes it so special?
I love any holiday that gets me a day off. And that has a celebration that includes food. So basically, I’m good with most of them.
Haha. Me too. Love all the food that accompanies celebrations. 🙂 Do you and your family/friends have any special holiday traditions?
Yes. We go out to eat for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m so over the big meal, too much stress, cleaning, cooking and for (At our house) little return. Most of the traditional foods for the holidays, my hubs and kids don’t eat. Except pie. Everyone likes pie.
Dare I admit that we don’t each much pie? But I’m in Australia so that’s my excuse.
What’s the worst Christmas present you’ve ever received?
Well, back in the day, my family was not rich, by any means. It cost a lot for them to send me to college. So I’d get like socks and underwear for Christmas. And, oh, by the way, since your birthday is two days after Christmas, make it count for your birthday too.
I hope you’re not getting socks this year! What’s the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
Anything my kids made me. Gifts from the heart, always.
Aww…so true. What’s your biggest gift giving disaster?
So many, when my hubs and I were first married. We sucked at giving each other gifts. So we learned to de-stress, make a list of what we wanted, and stuck to it. Way less bad feelings. Once the kids were old enough to know about Santa, we made them do lists too. In order of preference. They were rarely disappointed.
What’s your biggest gift giving success?
Can’t think of one, really.
If you could be granted one special gift for the world for Christmas, what would it be?
This is where I’m supposed to say world peace, right?
Yep. It’s what we all wish for 🙂
Christmas carols. Yes or no?
Yes. But only for the month of December. All other times should be banned.
Do you watch Christmas movies? If so, what’s your favourite all time holiday movie?
I love them! Holiday Inn, White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, Charlie Brown, and of course, It’s a Wonderful Life
I love reading stories set in the Christmas season and I especially like seeing stories set all over the world. I love seeing how others celebrate and I love reading about guys getting their special Christmas happy ever afters. Do you read holiday romances? If so, do you have a favourite you’d like to recommend to your readers?
Actually, I don’t read many holiday romances, but the ones I do re-read at that time of year are two lovely Jewish gay romance books by Astrid Amera – Carol of the Belskis and Miracle of the Belskis. They are lovely.
Yeah, two new books for my list! What inspired your current holiday story?
I wanted to do a holiday story, but for my medieval series. It was fun researching the Yule season.
Tell us a little about the main characters in your holiday story.
Drake is a mercenary, who now has an adopted son, Joss. Duke Logan has a son, Tomas. It’s the same problem we all face – what to give as a gift? But what Logan gets for Drake might just make Drake leave.
Share a favourite holiday photo or a holiday recipe.
So many recipes, not many photos. We’re not big picture takers. But we do cook. So I love to do a leftover casserole – layer dressing, but add some sour cream to moisten, stir in shredded cooked turkey, top with cranberry sauce (either the jelly or relish types), and then spread mashed sweet potatoes over it. Top with either crumbs or marshmellows, if you like it sweet. Bake at 350 for a reheat or until marshmellows brown. Easy and Yummy!
Lynn has shared a holiday song with us. So enjoy a listen while you go buy her book and check out the rest of the series.
