Rockin’ Around The Ranch

Love will always finds its way home for Christmas.
There a storm is coming. And Christmas is on its way. Jace is supposed to be on his way to Florida. But Jace’s boyfriend Taylor isn’t coming. Taylor’s on a last minute business trip. Hunkering down and taking care of things on the ranch, Jace is trying to make the best of his sorry Christmas. But where the heck did this baby come from?
Taylor is on a business trip when a co-worker’s flu extends his trip. When he should have been heading on vacation with Jace, giving him the best Christmas present ever, he’s stuck in an airport talking to some old guy with a white beard.
Interview – Holiday Spirit
I love Christmas and always look forward to it. What’s your favourite holiday of the year and what makes it so special?
I love Christmas. There’s family, friends, food and presents. And for me, it always feels magical.
Do you and your family/friends have any special holiday traditions?
My husband is part Spanish, but the family grew up in Mexico. So there is a family recipe for enchiladas, complete with a homemade sauce that I had to swear not to give out on penalty of death before anyone in the family would give it to me.
What’s the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I am the biggest popcorn fan ever. And an even bigger football fan as well. So the best gift was the year I got the Hamilton Beach Joe Namath popcorn popper.
Dare I admit I just rely on popping the pre-bought stuff into the microwave?
If you could be granted one special gift for the world for Christmas, what would it be?
Wow, let me think…the gift of being able to help others have a Christmas to remember.
Christmas carols. Yes or no?
As a child I had to sing them every year, so for a time I hated them. But now I love the feelings they evoke and I love singing them.
Do you watch Christmas movies? If so, what’s your favourite all time holiday movie?
Have to watch the classics every year. Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Carol (in all its versions) and I love The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, also Love Actually.
I love reading stories set in the Christmas season and I especially like seeing stories set all over the world. I love seeing how others celebrate and I love reading about guys getting their special Christmas happy ever afters. Do you read holiday romances? If so, do you have a favourite you’d like to recommend to your readers?
The Christmas Throwaway by RJ Scott, there is just something about the story that always makes me emotional.
What inspired your current holiday story?
A couple of years ago we were supposed to go on vacation and it didn’t happen (but not like in the story) and the story of the babe in the manger with the animals surround it.
Tell us a little about the main characters in your holiday story.
Jacen Assante is cowboy/rancher who loves his boyfriend and Christmas, but this year he’s ready to leave the cold behind for a vacation with Taylor. Taylor is a regional manager for a restaurant chain. And he can’t say no to his boss, so when the boss calls a couple of days before the boys leave for vacation…he of course can’t say no.
It sounds great. I’ll definitely be checking it out.
Share a favourite holiday photo or a holiday recipe.
Doesn’t have a name, but the day after the holiday meal that always has turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy. In a pan, layer the dressing, over the top of the dressing layer chopped turkey, cover with the mashed potatoes. Bake at 350 for about 25 to 30 minutes or the potatoes brown. Serve with gravy over the top. And any other leftover sides or a salad.
Yum! I’m feeling very hungry now.
I love sharing YouTube clips of holiday songs. If you have a favourite you’d like to share?
Anything by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Their live shows are just amazing.
Thanks for joining me, Laurie, and Merry Christmas. <3
