Wow! Nearly the end of August. I saw a post recently questioning who had their GRL outfits picked out. Answer: Not me. Guess that’s something else for me to add to my ever-growing to-do list. ๐
Today’s author is J.H. Knight. I hope you enjoy!
Meetย J.H. Knight
Welcome! Thanks for agreeing to answer a couple of questions. Hopefully you wonโt find then too difficult. ๐
Is this your first GRL? If not, do you have any advice for authors and/or readers who are attending? If itโs your first, what made you sign up this year?
This is my first time! Iโd been wanting to go for a few years and this time everything just lined up to make it possible.
Yay, another newbie like me! What are you most looking forward to about GRL this year?
Iโm really excited to meet everyone Iโve connected with online. Iโve had so many great exchanges with people from around the world and I canโt wait to see everyone in person. There are also a ton of writers who I fangirl over, so getting a few books signed is an extra bonus.
What inspired you to start writing in the gay romance genre?
I donโt really know, to be honest. Itโs simplyโฆ those are the characters who come alive for me and tell me their stories.
What was the first m/m romance book you wrote? Can you share a little about the story?
Iโd written some short stories for friends and such, but the first one I really decided to write for the public was through the Goodreads M/M Romance Groupโs Donโt Read in the Closet Event a few years ago. At the time, they ran the event with members posting pictures and requesting a story about the picture. The one I selected had two college-age guys cuddled up in bed togetherโfully clothed, but totally comfortable with each other. There was so much intimacy in that picture, the story started writing itself the first time I saw it. Itโs called Pillow Talk, a GFY romance between two best friends.
What book are you currently reading or have just finished reading? Tell us a little about it.
Answer I just finished Heโs Just Knot That Into You by Nico Jaye.ย I havenโt read a shifter story in ages and it was delightful. A werewolf is looking for his mate and goes on a series of truly terrible blind dates in the process. Some great twists, a little adventure, a few good laughs, and nice amount of heat.
Now Iโm reading (and loving!) Heat Trap by JL Merrow.
Please share an interesting fact your readers may not know about you?
Hmmm. I used to drive my mother crazy when I was little because I would talk to anyone. She hated taking me places because if she turned her back for one second, Iโd strike up a conversation with someone.ย Even now, total strangers will sometimes tell me their life story.
Thanks for sharing.ย I look forward to meeting you in October.
Aboutย J.H.
J.H. Knight has been writing love stories since the second grade. When sheโs not catering to the whims of her imaginary friends (whom she sometimes refers to as โcharactersโ), sheโs usually found driving her four children all over the planet, working on a school project, or saying things like โNot until your homework is done!โ
A Pacific Northwest native, she loves the outdoors in every season whether sheโs in the city, the mountains, or building sloppy sandcastles with her kids on the beach. On her best days, sheโs cuddled up with a good book, and on her worst days sheโs tearing her hair out as she tries to decide if her sentence needs a comma or a semi-colon. She gratefully bows down in awe of editors, since she usually gets it wrong.
