We’re definitely at the pointy end now! In a few days I’ll be getting on that plane for the fifteen hour trip to the USA! Yay! ๐
Today we meet authorย Nico Jaye, who I’m very excited to meet in person next week.
Meetย Nico Jaye
Is this your first GRL? If not, do you have any advice for authors and/or readers who are attending? If itโs your first, what made you sign up this year?
This is my first GRL! I’m nervcited about it, but mostly excited. =) In the past years I’d wanted to attend, but things never really added up to get me there. So glad I’ll be able to make it to San Diego this time!
What are you most looking forward to about GRL this year?
Mostly, I look forward to meeting some of the book friends I’ve made over the years. I’m super excited to fangirl over some of my favorite authors, too!
What inspired you to start writing in the gay romance genre?
Romance has always played a big part in my reading life. Once I started reading m/m romance, I joined the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, which has been a great way to keep updated on things that go on in the m/m romance world. When the M/M Romance Group had their annual writing event in 2012, I saw a prompt that interested me, and I chose to write that story, which became my “Man-to-Man Coverage” series. I really enjoyed the experience and continued to writeโฆand write and write. ๐
What was the first m/m romance book you wrote? Can you share a little about the story?
Hahahha, actually, it was “Man-to-Man Coverage.” Yep, I hadn’t written an m/m romance story before then. As I mentioned before, I wrote it for an M/M Romance Group prompt during their 2012 Don’t Read in the Closet writing event. The prompt contained a picture of two famous football players (Tom Brady and Tim Tebow), and the story I wrote featured two rival football players who went from rivals to friends to lovers.
What book are you currently reading or have just finished reading? Tell us a little about it.
I actually haven’t had much time to read since I moved earlier this month. That was exhausting! However, I recently finished beta-reading a wonderful short novella by J.H. Knight. It’s part of a secret shenanigans project with which I’m proud to be involved. I can’t wait until our big reveal!
Please share an interesting fact your readers may not know about you?
Oh man, talk about pressure! I don’t know if this is interesting, but I love traveling to new places. I travel alone and have visited a number of countries, from Turkey to Iceland to Nicaragua to South Africa to Oman. I love experiencing new cultures and am always keeping an eye out for cool things and characters to include in my stories.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by.ย See you next week!
Aboutย Nico
Nico Jaye is a fan of all things HEA and has dragged her romance collection along for her moves from San Francisco to Los Angeles to Chicago to New York and back. She thinks reading is awesome and loves that she can hang out night after night with crinoline-wearing debutantes, brawny firemen in suspenders, and werewolf shifters with Scottish brogues. An overall feline enthusiast, Nico secretly (or not so secretly?) adores Hello Kitty, cat GIFs, spontaneous traveling, pretending to be crafty, emoticons, hot menfolk, and parenthetical statements (not necessarily in that order). After starting as the pitcher for Team Awesome (literally) and visiting places like South Africa, Oman, and Fiji, Nico discovered that letting the boys in her head tell her where they want to go could actually be the most exciting journey of all.
