I’m so excited to be going to GayRomLit this year. Not only is it my first visit to GRL, it’s my first visit to the USA. The trip from Australia to San Diego is long and expensive, but I’m sure it will be worth it. The GRL website saysย “GayRomLit is an annual retreat that brings together the people who create and celebrate LGBT romance for a one-of-a-kind, must-attend gathering of dynamic, informal, and diverse fun.” Doesn’t that sound amazing? ๐
I’m attending as a Supporting Author, so I’ll have a few formal opportunities to meet readers, plus I’m looking forward to meeting people -readers and other authors – informally too.ย Because I’m nervous, along with being excited, I thought it would be fun to invite the other Supporting Authors, to my blog. I’ve asked them to share a bit about themselves and a recent books. They’ll be appearing over the coming months in the lead up to the big event.
I hope you enjoy meeting these authors as much as Iย do. ๐
Meet WS Long
Welcome! Thanks for agreeing to answer a couple of questions. Hopefully you wonโt find then too difficult. โบ
Is this your first GRL? If not, do you have any advice for authors and/or readers who are attending? If itโs your first, what made you sign up this year?
WS:ย Yes! It is. Iโve heard from other authors that itโs a great chance to see other writers and meet readers.
What are you most looking forward to about GRL this year?
WS: Obviously, meeting people. And, returning to San Diego where I went to elementary school a long, long time ago.
What inspired you to start writing in the gay romance genre?
WS: I started writing as a hobby. My first published book was based on aย murder case I had when I practiced criminal law. I turned to the gay romance genre because I like happy endings. Usually, writing is form of therapy for me.
What was the first m/m romance book you wrote? Can you share a little about the story?
WS: โLove and Murderโ was a fictionalized version of a murder trial I had when I practiced criminal law. It intertwined elements of what some friends were going through: divorce, fights about alimony, child custody, distrust of relationships, trying to keep money going.
What book are you currently reading or have just finished reading? Tell us a little about it.
WS: I just finished Lori Tolandโs newest book, โLandfallโ (Book 3).
Please share an interesting fact your readers may not know about you?
WS: Iโm a big fan of Disney, love Sci-Fi shows and movies and love โThe Big Bang Theory.โ I donโt like talking about law work, outside of work.

Blurb
Raised by his aunt, after his mother died, Pad McLaughlin enlisted in the Air Force to see the world, and save money for college, but he didnโt expect to fall in love with his supervisor, RJ Davis, a handsome, dashing officer. Rather than return home right away after his tour of duty in Saudi Arabia, Pad gambles on love by joining RJ in Bangkok, despite the governmentโs policy of โDonโt Ask, Donโt Tell.โ When Pad realizes RJ doesnโt love him, he returns home broken-hearted only to be distracted by Wayne, another hunky airman, who keeps secrets from Pad.
When RJ finally realizes after Padโs gone what Pad means to him, is he too late? Will Pad choose the officer or the airman?
Set in 2008, this love story takes place before the end of โDonโt Ask, Donโt Tell,โ when gay men who loved each other were forced to remain in the closet and deny themselves happiness.
