I love the story behind this song! It’s a country song and I don’t follow much country music so the song is new to me. What Mattered Most was released 25 years ago and was supposedly a big hit. Especially for Pride, Ty Herndon has re-released the song “the way I wish I could have sang it for you then.” So special ๐

I loved his coming out song but that was the first I’d ever heard of him. I’ll definitely check out the upcoming album.
I used to listen to country years ago, still do at work. He was one of my favorites. But the funny thing is, I knew or suspected, he was gay from a two second move in his video for Want My Goodbye Back. He jumped off a ladder and a guy wipes the dirt off of his leg. It was a look in Ty’s face or something. I just don’t know really what it was, but that’s when I look back to proving me right to my friends.
