I love a good blog hop – lots of fabulous authors to visit and get to know. I’m hoping to meet some new people and have a bit of fun. Plus this hop has a great prize so be sure to enter!
The grand prize is a KitchenAid mixer. How fabulous is that?!
I’d love to own a KitchenAid but unfortunately I only have a Sunbeam. The Sunbeam’s like the poor cousin to the sexy and glamorous KitchenAid. I can still mix and create wonderful things with the Sunbeam but I’m sure my cooking would taste so much better from the Kitchenaid. I have appliance envy! 🙂
So the winner can make the most of the grand prize, I’m sharing a recipe for a classic Australian (we can have that debate later) Pavlova.
Classic Pavlova
- 5 egg whites
- 1 ½ cups caster sugar, sieved
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla essence
- 1 ½ teaspoons white vinegar
- 1 ½ tablespoons cornflour
- Preheat oven to 110°C (fan forced). Grease a baking sheet and line with greaseproof paper. Lightly grease the paper.
- Place egg whites in a large clean bowl. Add a pinch of salt. Using hand held beaters (or a mix master) whip until firm.
- Slowly add caster sugar, about 1 Tablespoon at a time. This process should take about 10 minutes.
- Beat in vanilla essence and vinegar.
- Fold in the cornflour.
- Spoon the mix onto prepared tray. Shape into an approximately 20cm circle, making sure the mixture is piled high.
- Bake for 1 ½ hours. When cooked, turn off the oven and leave meringue to cool, preferably overnight
- Decorate with whipped cream and seasonal fruits.

Coming on 29th October from Dreamspinner Press…A Day At A Time
Sean Vargos is quiet, well respected, and dedicated to his job. But Dave Simpson sees Sean as more than a coworker. He’s fought his attraction to Sean for months but can’t get him out of his thoughts.
They tentatively embark on a relationship, but Sean isn’t all that he seems. He struggles to put his past behind him and overcome his fears.
Dave, with his good looks and open nature, accepts that sometimes Sean’s doubts get the better of him and he runs. Dave just wants the chance to show Sean he can be trusted and the past doesn’t have to dictate their future.

I agree with you on both counts. I have a Dyson which is fantastic (sorry to rub it in) and I adore a good pavlova. I like mine with banana, strawberries and passionfruit – the old fashioned way 🙂

Apple: I would love an Apple ipad… Too expensive for me though 🙂

I wanted an Easy Bake oven as a kid, but got some no-name thing instead (it was probably better quality, but not as pretty)!

Clothing that is not bought in a chain store. That is my brand envy. But I can’t justify spending money on clothes that I’ll end up gardening in! 😀

I used to have a serious case of Kitchen Aid mixer envy. I finally got one a two years ago. Now I have Dyson envy too. It would really help with my dust mite allergy.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one envying things I don’t have and can’t afford 🙂
