Another year older and wiser, but what’s next?

I can’t believe another year has passed. There’s a saying that the years appear to go faster, the older you get. Well, it definitely seems that way to me. I wish things would slow down for a minute so I can catch my breath! 🙂

In April alone, I spent a week away, entertained guests, completed edits on my first novel, did the first round of edits on my second novel, wrote 30k words as part of CampNano, and attended Queermance in Melbourne. Queermance was lots of fun. I met authors and readers, people I’d previously only met online, so face-to-face was special. I also had the opportunity to do a reading of one of Toni Griffin’s stories. Wasn’t she brave trusting me to pull it off?! Scary but I’m glad I did it!

I feel I need a rest to recover but life doesn’t stop – not in my ‘real life’ world or my writing world.

As I do every year on my birthday, I get in a reflective mood and think back on the year that was. This well year was something amazing, as you can probably tell from my April agenda alone 🙂 Lots of changes in my life, with new activities and new friends. It’s had its ups and downs, but on the whole been wonderful.

I’ll share a little bit of my first year as a published writer in a future post, but right now, I wanted to let you know what I have planned for the rest of the year. No rest for the wicked! 😉

Firstly, my first two full length novels will be released shortly. Both books, part of the Heroes series, are being published by Dreamspinner Press. I am so excited to think my name will be on the cover of a paperback!

First cab off the rank is Charlie’s Hero. Charlie’s Hero should be released on 17th June. There’ll be a cover reveal later this month and I’ll also be having a blog tour to support the release. Here’s the blurb…

Schoolteacher Charlie Matthews returns to his hometown, looking to regain a sense of community, reconnect with friends, and settle down. It looks like his dreams have come true when paramedic Josh Campbell attends an accident at the school. It’s love at first sight, and a romance begins.

But Josh’s reluctance to come out to the brother who raised him, puts pressure on their fledgling relationship. While Charlie understands Josh’s concerns, he can’t help growing impatient. After all, Charlie came out years ago.

It’s not until Charlie confronts his own parents and realizes he hasn’t come to terms with their rejection that he fully understands what Josh has to lose. But Josh is Charlie’s hero, and Josh will do anything to prove to Charlie that he doesn’t need his parents to be part of a family.

Andrew’s Promise, is the second book in the series. My bestie says it’s her favourite of everything I’ve written so far,  so I’ll be looking forward to seeing what others think. Andrew’s Promise comes out in August/September.

In terms of future books, I’ve also completed another novella. I’m waiting to see that happens with that one. My current WIP is 75% complete and will be my first novel set in Australia. It is mainly set in country NSW and has been lots of fun to write. Keep your eye out for Rustic Melody.

And finally, I’m going to GRL in October. I’m going as a Supporting Author, something I’m equally excited and nervous about. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to meet lots of the m/m romance community while I’m there. Such a big trip for a girl from downunder!
