Have you ever had one of those book marathons that totally immerse you in a fictional world? Where you feel you know the place, you know the characters and feel quite at home?
Iβve just had one of those weeks. Iβve become a temporary resident of Cattle Valley.
Iβve met doctors, firemen, pastors, law enforcement officers, bakers, millionaires and cowboys (plus countless others). Iβve seen a new hotel built, a gym established, dined out at the local restaurants, watched bull riding, been stranded in blizzards, and seen terrible tragedy. Along with the tragedy there has been miraculous recovery and a great show of support for each other from all the townsfolk. My new friends are young and old, someΒ have age differences in their relationships and some are parts of threesomes. TheyΒ have been injured and rescued, struggled, had disagreements and of course fallen in loveβbecause love (and lots of sex) Β is really what itβs all about.
Cattle Valley is a pretty extreme exampleβthere are currently 31 books in the series and I’m only half way throughβbut there are many more places where Iβve been a visitor for a while.
Iβd love to know your thoughts on long series and ifΒ you have any favourites? Or maybe you think Iβm just plain crazy for having an obsessive compulsion to finish reading every series I start? π

The city of Cattle Valley was founded by millionaire Charles Beauregard on behalf of his only son and heir, Joshua Beauregard. The victim of a hate-crime, Joshua was murdered on April 13, 1972 in San Francisco, California. After the murder of his son, Charles began making plans to use his wealth and land to insure a safe haven for gays and their families to live in peace. Charles spent the remainder of his life working and seeing that his vision came to fruition.
Now, twenty-three years after its dedication, Cattle Valley, Wyoming is a thriving small town.

Cattle Valley is my favorite place. I have them in print and ebook. I love it there.
I almost wish I could book a holiday and go visiting for real. I want to try one of those cinnamon buns that gets mentioned in nearly every book! π
Cattle Valley is somewhere I enjoy escaping to as well. As many of the characters have. I liked the idea of the cinnamon rolls and chilli so much that I made batches of both. It was a surprising duo, but delicious. A great place to escape to when reality is a little dull.
