Meet Olivia Black

Welcome! Thanks for agreeing to answer a couple of questions. Hopefully you won’t find then too difficult. 🙂

Is this your first GRL? If not, do you have any advice for authors and/or readers who are attending? If it’s your first, what made you sign up this year?

My first GRL convention was last year in Chicago. It was an amazing experience. I went alone so I made a real effort to meet people. I just stuck out my hand and introduced myself. It was easy. And although I was nervous and afraid of rejection, I continued to put myself out there and made some great friends in the process. If you are alone, make sure you introduce yourself and find some friends. Everyone is really warm and welcoming.  Trust me, you won’t regret it.

What are you most looking forward to about GRL this year?

Meeting the readers. It’s always so surprising when people recognize my name or have read one of my books. I’m also looking forward to meeting other authors. I had a few fan-girl moments last year and I’ sure I’ll have a few this year as well.

What inspired you to start writing in the gay romance genre?

 I’m a huge reader and I love to write. I’ve been writing for a while, but started writing gay romance after a summer vacation. I went to New Orleans. The idea for my first series, Silver Bullet, came to me then. I got home, opened my laptop and started writing.

What was the first m/m romance book you wrote? Can you share a little about the story?

My first m/m romance book was The Alpha’s Mate, book 1 in my Silver Bullet series. This series takes place in New Orleans at a shifter owned gay club. So far, there are 15 books in this series.

What book are you currently reading or have just finished reading? Tell us a little about it.

I LOVE reading. If I’m not writing, I’m reading. Most recently I was reading Carol Lynn’s (Lobster Cove), SE Jakes (Men of Honor), Eli Easton, and the list goes on and on. I enjoy reading m/m.

I love reading m/m too. In fact it’s just about all I read.  I look forward to meeting you in October.
