Today I entered a competition. It was a Rafflecopter. You’ve most likely entered them too so you probably know the drill – tweet about the giveaway, like the blogger or the author, post about it, get the message out there. We all love a chance to win something and I’ve been lucky enough to win a book or two in the past. So it’s a bit of fun, we spread the word for the author, friends hear about new books and we might win something!
But this Rafflecopter stood out. It was different. It was special! This competition gave entries for doing a Random Act of Kindness.
Most of us probably do nice things everyday, particularly for friends and family but this got me thinking about doing something out of the ordinary for someone different. I do hope many others think the same way. I hope lots of people enter the giveaway and I hope they enter multiple times because this means that kindness is being shown in a BIG way.
To help promote Random Acts of Kindness, I’ve decided to provide a $10 ARe gift certificate to a lucky winner who can choose who they’d like the gift card sent to. Do you know someone doing it a bit tough who can’t afford to buy books? Someone who needs a bit of cheering up?
To enter is simple. I’ve set up a Rafftlecopter for ease of selecting a random winner and to spread the word. Once the winner is drawn, you will need to provide an email address for the gift certificate to be sent to. Easy!

Hi Nic, I was also in awe of ZAM act of kindness and trust that those that click each day have actually committed a random act of kindness, so thank you for creating a post on this.
It reminded me of a story, I was told once told, about a man and his son walking home and they came across a homeless man on the street. He had a hat in front of him, which had a few coins and notes in it, a dog asleep at his side and he was playing a sad tune on a guitar. The father placed a reasonable amount of money in the hat and said a few kind words to the homeless man and walked on with his son following behind, who was staring father in his disbelief. The father finally asked what his son what was wrong and the son said that he could not understand his father actions. The son said that homeless man is more than likely a fake, has a home to go to and is making money from gullible fools. The father paused and said that may be true but it costs little to be kind to someone and if that man is a fake that the shame is on him for his dishonesty, not on the person who offered him an act of kindness.

Thanks for sharing your story, Sula. I do think the world would be a lot nicer place if people showed more natural kindness without deciding first if the person is ‘worth it’. If people were shown more kindness, perhaps they would pay it forward so doubly benefit from the experience <3
Hi Nic, what a fabulous idea, thank you for the reminder to do something nice for someone everyday. I must admit when I get busy and focused on my day to day stresses I sometimes forget to look beyond myself. Thank you for the giveaway.
Thank you for participating. I was talking about this very thing with my daughter yesterday. She said that even when we don’t think we are being kind, we often are. She gave an example of asking a shop keeper about his day – I like to chat with my grocer 🙂 – she observed that this small act of stopping for a quick chat and showing a personal interest was obviously something that brightened his day. I’m sure you do lots of little things too and don’t even realise it. 🙂
